Why am I able to receive but not send mail?
This issue is generally specific to an IMAP configuration, which is not supported by Exchange Online (formerly Office 365). If this issue is occurring with an Exchange Online account, please contact the UF Computing Help Desk. This problem is normally caused by an incorrect outgoing mail server specification in your email software. If you have set up your Gatorlink (Webmail) or UF Exchange Email as an IMAP account, you should double-check the email client's outgoing settings for the email account:
- Mac Mail
- Mobile Devices
If you are unable to send emails, it usually correlates to a configuration for the outgoing settings. Ensure that the outgoing server is configured to the following settings:
- Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.ufl.edu
- Outgoing Encryption: TLS or STARTTLS
- Outgoing Port: 587
If you have recently changed your password, you should also ensure that the password has been updated for this configuration. The best practice is to retype the password, even if you believe it has been updated.
