Adding Text to Video

Adding text to the beginning of your clip:

Using the mouse, click the beginning of the video clip and drag a little to the right, so that you will have room to insert the text.
Next, make sure your Media Marker (flashing line) is at the beginning of the timeline by clicking at the beginning of the timeline.Image:Text2.jpg

In the bottom left of the Sony Vegas window there will be a series of tabs. Select the tab entitled: Media Generators. On the left of the media generators box select Text and a series of sample text will appear.Image:Text4.jpg
Using the mouse click and drag the desired text option to where theMedia Marker is, as shown below.Image:Text5.jpg
After you drop the text onto the timeline a window will pop up. Here you can write your text size and font type. Make sure you erase the words "Sample Text" from the box.

Close the window when you are finished.
However, when you drag and drop text onto the timeline you may notice an overlap in the clip.

To reduce or eliminate this cross fade, click in one of the video frames and drag the video clip away from the text.
Press the Play button below the timeline to view the result in the Preview Window(located in the lower right). The video will start where the Time Marker is positioned. In order to reduce the amount of time text is displayed, hover over the side edge of the text until you see a double sided arrow. Click and drag in or out, to increase or reduce text time.
